The Boston College Eagles defeated the Miami Hurricanes 84 to 62 on January 12 2021. This win improved the Eagles to 3-9 on the year and put them 1-5 in conference play on the season. This game drops Miami to 5-6 on the year and puts them at 1-5 in conference play. This game is a big win for the Eagles, as they could get into a nice streak heading to the next game on Saturday vs Notre Dame.
The Eagles scored 17 threes. That was one away from the all time most threes made in Boston College school history. This might be what the Eagles need to get their season back on track to start winning basketball games. They have a tough stretch upcoming after the Notre Dame game. Featuring games against Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh Clemson, Louisville and Florida State.
There were four players for Boston College tonight that scored double digits against Miami. These include CJ Felder (10), Steffon Michell (12),Rich Kelly(27),and Jay Heath (25). Rich Kelly had a career day today. He was feeling himself tonight knocking down 7 shots behind the arc tonight vaulting the eagles offense to a whole new level. He really stepped up big, for an offense that was missing two of its key players, Ashton-Langford and Tabbs. Both Rich Kelly and Jay Heath stepped up with the Eagles lacking guard depth.
Jay Heath had a season high today he was like many players for BC that could not miss tonight, shooting 9-19 with 5 of though shots being behind the arc. CJ Felder had an incredible chase down block tonight that stopped easy points from Miami. He also played great defense and brought down 8 boards tonight, he also swotted 5 shots tonight. No easy buckets for Miami. For Steffon Michell he shot well 4-7 from the field tonight and brought down 7 rebounds tonight for the Eagles. Lastly for Demarr Langford Jr, he shot 2-7 for 6 points and 3 rebounds.
Overall this game was great. The Eagles had a great first half like they do as usual but for once they brought the momentum they had built from the first half and brought it into the second half. In Miami’s defense they were missing a few players for this game, but the Eagles could not be stopped. Anything that BC shot was going down. Not only did the offense play tremendous tonight, but the defense was amazing only allowing 62 points and not allowing any easy baskets tonight.
Lastly, we will see if the eagles can bring this on Saturday, to make a winning streak and improve that ACC record even better. The game tonight really showed what BC has, it showed that there record really does not show what type of talent BC has. That is why if the three ball is falling that BC could beat any team in the ACC this year. Miami is a talented team. Injuries have hurt them this year but that team still had talent tonight and BC defeated them by 22 tonight.
