There were many trade talks of Benintendi getting traded about or month or two ago. But as the news seemed to die down, it seemed more and more likely that Benintendi was not going to be dealt. Until today.
It was first announced that Benintendi has been dealt to the Royals, with no further explanation. Then the news started to trickle in, and it was announced that it would be a three team deal. The teams involved would be the Mets, Red Sox, and Royals.
The Red Sox are reportedly receiving Josh Winckowski, the No. 26 Ranked Prospect in the Mets system, as well as Franchy Cordero. An OF who has had limited playing time in the Majors with the Padres and Royals. The Red Sox are also receiving three more players. Two players to be named later from Kansas City, and a player to be named later from New York.
The Red Sox are also sending cash to Kansas City. The Mets are reportedly receiving OF Prospect Kahlil Lee as well.
