JJ Watt is currently favored to go to the Green Bay Packers according to the latest Vegas odds. While that might be a great fit, the Patriots are in need of an edge rusher, and he would be a great pickup for New England.

Coming off of a 7-9 finish and missing the playoffs for the first time since was Matt Cassel Quarterback of the Patriots, New England needs a spark. JJ Watt would be a stellar addition after a season where the Patriots lacked in QB Pressure.

Watt, 33, spent all of his career with the Texans. JJ Watt had a total of 5 sacks last year. Watt ranked as the 7th best defensive lineman according to Pro Football Focus. The Patriots are tied for the 6th best odds to get Watt.

Last year a league-high eight Patriots chose to opt-out of the 2020 season. The Pats need to find an edge rusher, either in the draft or Free Agency. Prior to Week 11 of the 2020 season against Houston, Bellichick was asked about JJ Watt. Bellichick praised his experience more than anything.

JJ Watt would be the perfect person to overtake Brady as a leader of the Patriot way. The Patriots do not have the defense of their previous dynasty but an aging Watt could put pressure on the young guns of Allen, Tua, and whoever the Jets draft, strengthening the Patriots pass rush, which needs improvement.
