The Boston Celtics fell to the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 120-115. This game was all Celtics for almost the entire duration until the Pelicans went on a 10-2 run in the fourth quarter to send it to OT, and would ultimately win it in OT.

Celtics: 

For the Celtics, this game was going there way for the entire duration. The Celtics led by as many as 24 points. The Celtics to start the game were playing well in all phases playing great defense, and moving the ball and getting great shots. The Pelicans would end up getting hot late, and winning it in Overtime.

On the positive side the Celtics had five players score double figures. Leading the way for the Celtics was Jayson Tatum with 32 points on 10-24 shooting while adding 9 rebounds. He also hit the game-tying layup with just seconds left, to send the game to Overtime. Also scoring for the Celtics was Jaylen brown scoring 25 points on 7-23 shooting adding 9 assists. Kemba Walker had 14 points as well, on a disappointing 5-21 shooting and 1-12 from beyond the arch. Tristan Thompson added 12 points and 9 rebounds .

Off the Bench rookie Aaron Nesmith added a impressive 10 points on 3-4 shooting. As far on the shooting end for the Celtics they shot 39% from the field and 27% from the arch. For the Celtics this is definitely the most disappointing games of the year. having a 24 point lead and letting it slip away.

The Celtics continue to struggle finding consistency as they fall to a disappointing 15-15 on the season.

Pelicans :

for the Pelicans this was a performance filled with grit and toughness and a taste of what they are capable of. The Pelicans Struggled on both sides of the ball to start this game. The Pelicans struggled to get stops they trailed by as many as 24 points in the third quarter.

Heading into the fourth quarter the Pelicans kept chipping away the Celtics leading down single digits in the third the lead was cut to nine. The Pelicans went on to force a 10-2 run to force overtime. Zion Williamson 28 points propelled them to victory in overtime. He had 15 of those points in the third quarter.

The Pelicans had four players score in double figures. Leading the way for the Pelicans was Zion Williamson he had 28 points on 11-21 shooting and 10 rebounds. Also scoring for the Pelicans was Brandon Ingram scoring a season high 33 points on 11-22 shooting. While Lonzo Ball had 16 points on 5-11 shooting . An impressive showing for Josh Hart as he added 17 points on 5-10 shooting and 10 rebounds off the bench.

As far as shooting went for the Pelicans they shot 44% from the field and 30% from the arch. This was an impressive comeback behind win for the Pelicans they showed their grit and toughness and what truly this team is capable of.  This win should provide some momentum moving Forward as the Pelicans improve to 13-17 on the season.

Takeaways/Final thoughts

  1. The Celtics struggled shooting the basketball today
  2. The biggest need for the Celtics is bench scoring
  3. Kemba Walker struggled to put the ball in the basket
  4. Aaron Nesmith continues to be impressive off the bench
  5. If the Celtics want to be serious about a deep playoff run they need to keep their foot on the gas pedal
  6. With Marcus Smart out until the All star break the margin of error for the Celtics is very thin

After a heartbreaking loss, The Celtics look to go back to their winning ways as they head to Dallas and face the Mavericks at 7:30 PM on Tuesday night.
