The Boston Celtics fall to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night by a final score of 127-112. This game was all Hawks for most of the duration. The Hawks knocked down a franchise record 23 threes to help secure the victory.

Celtics:

As for the Celtics this was another ugly game, the Celtics played horrible on both ends of the floor. The Celtics lacked effort and pride on both ends of the floor as well. Most importantly just could not get a stop to stop the Hawks offensive explosion.

For the Celtics it was a lackluster performance from Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown as Tatum shot 4-20 and Jaylen brown shot 6-16. On a positive note the Celtics had six players in double figures.

Leading the way for the Celtics was Tristan Thompson with 13 points on 5-10 shooting, and 13 rebounds. While Jayson Tatum added 13 points on a rough shooting night shooting 4-20 and 1-8 from beyond the arc. Also Jaylen brown had 17 points on 6-16 shooting. While Jeff Teague added 14 points. Aaron Nesmith continues to be impressive off the bench with 13 points on 3-4 shooting. Also Carsen Edwards had 11 points on 5-8 shooting. While Tremont Waters also had 11 points.

This game was very tough to watch as the Celtics struggled on both ends of the floor and clearly did not play with heart and energy that fans were hoping for. The Celtics drop to a disappointing 15-17 as they lose their third straight game.

Hawks:

For the Hawks they blew the Celtics out of the water. The Hawks played terrific on both ends of the floor causing the Celtics struggles on the defensive end of the ball. The Hawks shooting was the story as they drilled a franchise record 23 threes behind the arch. They caused miss matches all night as they got whatever they wanted in terms of scoring.

The Hawks had four players score in double figures. Leading the way for the Hawks was Danilo Gallinari with 38 points on 13-16 shooting and hit 10 threes off the bench. Also scoring was Trae Young he had 33 points and shot 12-23 with 7 assist. Tony Snell also added 12 points on just 4-8 shooting. While John Collins added 14 points on 6-11 shooting.

For the Hawks on the shooting end it was terrific the Hawks shot 52% from the field and 54%from the arch. The Hawks also passed the ball extremely well they had 27 assist, so they shared the ball very well.

The Hawks dominated the boards while out rebounding the Celtics 45 to 36. For the Hawks this was a great win for them and should be a great momentum swing as they wrap up the next few games before the All Star break. The Hawks Improve to 14-18 on the season.

Takeaways/Final Thoughts:

  1. Tatum and Brown played very poorly
  2. The Celtics need to play with a sense of urgency
  3. Aaron Nesmith continues to be impressive off the bench
  4. With Smart out Tatum and Brown need to take a bigger leadership role the next few games
  5. The Celtics need to stop switching screens on defense because it creates miss matches on offense.

The Celtics look to avoid their fourth straight loss as they return to the Garden as they face the Pacers on Friday night at 7:30pm
