On Tuesday, the Patriots brought back defensive lineman Lawrence Guy on a four-year deal according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss. Reiss added as well that they are awaiting a physical.
Guy is seen as a veteran in the locker room, as he’s been in the NFL since 2011, joining the Patriots in 2017.
In 2020, Guy amassed two sacks, 57 total tackles, four tackles for loss, whilst also generating 11 pressures. In his entire career with New England, he’s started 60 games, racking up seven sacks, 235 combined tackles 16 tackles for loss, and 31 pressures.
While his production doesn’t seem much on the stat sheet, Guy is seen as a very competent run stuffer and influential leader on the defensive line.
Overall, bringing back Lawrence Guy should be a welcome sight for the Patriots. Guy is a seasoned veteran and is seen as a respected veteran in the locker room.
He will add depth and provide help in stopping the run, something New England’s front seven struggled to accomplish last season.
The deal is said to be worth $11.5M.
