The Boston Celtics were victorious against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night by a final score of 120-111. It was all Celtics early in this for the first half, until the Hornets went on a 11-0 run to get within striking distance. But it wouldn’t be enough as the Celtics would secure the win.
The Celtics came out strong in this one shooting 7-8 from the field. The Celtics displayed great ball movement and great fire and energy, and jumped out to a 29-17 lead. The Celtics would then go on a big surge as they went on a 15-3 run at the end of the quarter with a 39-19 lead.
The Hornets did not have an answer for the Celtics high powered offense; they were very hot from behind the arch. But the Hornets kept chipping away at the Celtics lead, and the Celtics would head to the locker room with a 58-47 lead.
In the third quarter, Charlotte stormed out of the gates with a 9-0 run cutting the Celtics lead to 66-61 with 9:00. The Celtics was starting to look very sloppy and were missing key shots. At the end of the quarter the Celtics would take a 88-80 lead heading into the fourth.
In the fourth quarter, it was a defensive battle for the first five minutes. Both teams were playing very physical defense. Midway though the quarter the Celtics continued to attack the basket with 5:55 the Celtics extended the lead to 105-98. With 2:02 to play in the game the Celtics continued their surge with going up 114-101.
In the final minutes, the Celtics would start to pull away then the Hornets would have no answers.
In the last meeting with the Hornets a couple nights ago Jayson Tatum was a non factor shooting just 6-16 finished with 19 points. Tonight was a different story though for Tatum as he was a great shot maker tonight scoring 35 points on 12-23 shooting.
Also in the Last meeting with the Hornets Jaylen Brown was a factor in the scoring category, but struggled as Brown Finished with 20 points on 8-22 shooting. Tonight was a different story for Brown as he notched 38 points on 13-23 shooting.
For PJ Washington he carried over his good performance a few nights ago into tonight’s game as he finished with 19 points on 8-16 shooting.
Tonight’s game was a game to forget for Terry Rozier as he finished with 15 points on 4-18 shooting.
The Celtics improve to 33-30 on the season, as they will take on the Spurs on Friday Night at 7:30pm EST.
