The Patriots have drafted Christian Barmore with the 38th pick in the draft, after trading up with the Bengals.
Barmore, the Alabama defensive tackle, was projected by many to go in the first round. He wasn’t taken on night one, and the Patriots decided to trade up for the 6-foot-5, 310 pound defensive-lineman.
It wasn’t exactly one of the Patriots positions of need, but the sophomore slipped through the cracks on night one. He led Alabama in sacks last year with eight, was an All-American and the National Championship Defensive MVP. Barmore also had 37 tackles during the 2020 season.
The Crimson Tide defensive tackle is the second straight player out of Alabama taken by the Patriots, as Barmore joins Mac Jones as the two newest members of the Patriots.
