Boston College’s very own Hunter Long was drafted Friday 81st overall to the Dolphins Friday night, in round three of the NFL draft.

BC says goodbye to Long, who in 2020 led the FBS in TE receiving yards. Long will join Dolphins head coach Brian Flores in Miami, who is a former Eagle. Long becomes the eighth BC player drafted by the Dolphins, and the first since TE Pete Mitchell was drafted by the Phins in 1995.

Long passes TE Tim Sherwin as the highest drafted TE in BC school history, as Sherwin went at pick number 94 in the fourth round of the 1981 draft.

The TE in his career had 89 receptions, nine touchdowns, along with 1,297 receiving yards. But the majority of his production came in Long’s junior year. Long caught 57 passes on 685 yards along with five touchdowns in Jeff Hafley’s first year as head coach of the Eagles.
