Devers, Renfroe Lead Way; Red Sox Grab 4-3 Win Over Orioles on Mothers Day

Nick Pivetta struck out just two batters over six innings Sunday, but he allowed just two runs in his outing in rout to his fifth win of the season, as he’s now 5-0.

The Red Sox main sources of offense came from Rafael Devers and Hunter Renfroe. Devers lifted a solo shot over the fence in center field to tie it up 1-1 in the second inning, and then a double in the sixth drove in two more runs. Hunter Renfroe then homered in the eighth to make it 4-3, with a towering blast.

After Pivetta went six innings, Josh Taylor would throw a scoreless inning, followed by Ottavino who allowed a run in his one inning of work, but Matt Barnes would shut the door for his eighth save of the year.

Nick Pivetta continues his dominance, as he’s posted a 3.23 ERA this season, and has been a vital piece of the rotation.

The Red Sox look for the sweep Monday.
