According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, not even 12 hours after the Celtics were eliminated from the playoffs, Danny Ainge is stepping down from his role with the team as Head of Basketball Operations, and Brad Stevens will be stepping in at his role.
The Celtics were eliminated from the playoffs in Game 5 Tuesday night, with their season-ending loss to the Nets.
The Celtics are also reportedly going to start their search for a new head coach, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Woj also added that the Celtics staff and coaches have been informed of the move.
The Celtics had a disappointing season going just 36-36 barely making it as the 7th seed of the East.
Danny Ainge has been the Celtics President of Basketball Operations since 2003. The Danny Ainge era, which included both glamorous and dreaded seasons is finally coming to an end.
