Stephon Gilmore is absent today for the start of minicamp, after missing all of optional OTAs as well.
Some players were reported missing due to weather inconveniences, but Gilmore’s absence is not weather related, according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic. With Gilmore set to earn $7 million this year, it’s becoming clear that Gilmore wants his contract restructured, as a report from Ian Rapoport stated.
The 30-year old also tweeted out “I’m a big Kyrie” just a couple of months ago, and immediately deleted it afterwards. Gilmore was referring to Kyrie Irving in the tweet, the former Boston Celtic, who left the Celtics after saying he would stay.
As noted by NESN’s Zack Cox, he could be fined $93,085 if he skips all three minicamp practices.
