After spending just one day with the team in Atlanta, Michael Chavis was optioned to Triple-A Worcester. Chavis was called up before Tuesday’s win after the Red Sox DFA’d Ryan Weber.
The reason? The recently acquired Yacksel Rios was placed on the Red Sox. Rios was acquired for cash considerations from the Mariners Monday.
Rios will look to add the Sox bullpen, with a career 6.47 ERA across 69 appearances through five years in the majors. Rios has just seven innings of big-league experience in the past two seasons, three of which have came this year with the Mariners.
