Report: Celtics Finalizing Deal to Make Ime Udoka New Head Coach

The Celtics are finalizing a deal with Nets assistant Ime Udoka to become the next head coach, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

ESPN reported Friday that Udoka was one of the select candidates to receive second interviews.

Udoka, 43, spent seven seasons in the NBA as a player spending time with the Lakers, Knicks, Trail Blazers, and most notably the Kings and Spurs. The 6-foot-6 forward appeared in 316 games throughout his career, averaging 5.2 points per game.

After Udoka played his last year of basketball in Spain, he joined the Spurs coaching staff as an assistant to Greg Popovich for seven seasons winning a championship in 2014, before spending a year with both the 76ers and Nets.
