Boston Red Sox Blow Out Royals, 15-1, as Nathan Eovaldi Dominates; Rafael Devers and Danny Santana Each Record 5 RBIs

The Red Sox finished off a four-game set with the Royals in blowout fashion, beating Kansas City 15-1.

The Red Sox picked up another leadoff homer from Kike Hernandez as he bolted one over the monster. They didn’t grab another run until the fourth, as they got back-to-back four-run rallies.

Martinez led off the fourth with a solo homer, and Danny Santana hit a two-run homer that barely made it into the bullpen to make it 5-0.

In the fifth Rafael Devers knocked in two with a single, and with the bases loaded Danny Santana hit a bloop single that barely made it to the infield dirt which second baseman Whit Merrifield couldn’t get to in time in order to bring home another. With the bases remaining loaded another run was piled on after Ervin Santana balked.

Rafael Devers blasted a three-run big fly in the sixth, and in the seventh they added their 13th run of the ballgame on a sac fly from Michael Chavis.

Nathan Eovaldi dominated, tossing seven scoreless innings only allowing five hits while striking out six.

In the eighth the Red Sox continued the beating, as Marwin Gonzalez picked up an RBI single before Danny Santana grabbed his fifth RBI of the ballgame with a double.

Matt Andriese pitched the eighth and ninth, as after a scoreless eighth, with two outs the Royals were able to rally for a run. But Andriese would strike out Sebastian Rivero to end the ballgame, and give the Red Sox their 51st win of the season to make them 51-31 on the year.
