On Thursday, it was announced Charlie Coyle underwent surgery on his left knee. Coyle is expected to return for training camp in September.
The Bruins’ third line center had a bumpy 2021 season, only scoring six goals and 10 assists in 51 games this season. It’s unclear when the injury took place, but the avulsion fracture in the left kneecap could be the main reason for the downplaying year.
It just wasn’t the measly 16 points that were bad for Coyle, it looked like he was getting worked off the puck a lot more than usual.
Coyle still has four years left on his contract, so he’s in the mix for the Bruins future. Coyle looks to bounce back and have a solid 2021-2022 campaign.
