The Red Sox announced a series of roster moves today, as both Kevin Plawecki and Michael Chavis will return to the roster.
Utility-man Danny Santana will head to the 10-day injured list due to a left quad strain. As a corresponding move, the Red Sox have recalled infielder Michael Chavis. Santana was removed in the seventh inning of Tuesday’s 5-3 loss, as he seemed to tweak something as he grounded out.
Chavis will look to change the narrative on himself, as the 25-year-old has hit just .207 with an OPS of .558, swatting just one homer in his 25 games and 61 plate appearances, to go along with his wRC+ of 45.
Connor Wong will be sent down to the WooSox after a short stint with the Red Sox, as in his first tenure as a major leaguer he did a solid job filling in for the injured Kevin Plawecki. Wong mustered three hits through his 11 plate appearances while doing a solid job catching Nathan Eovaldi in two of his three starts, someone who the 25-year-old worked with over the offseason.
Plawecki will be reinstated after being put on the injured list due to left hamstring tightness. The 30-year-old backup catcher has hit .254 through his 26 games and 70 plate appearances, to go along with his one homer and three RBIs, as well as an 84 wRC+.
