The Red Sox have placed 31-year-old right-hander Matt Andriese on the 10-day injured list, due to right hamstring tendinitis, the team announced Saturday.
As a corresponding move, Boston has recalled right-hander Austin Brice.
Andriese heads to the IL after struggling mightily in his past few outings, as he allowed two runs in Friday night’s win through just an inning of work. The six-year veteran has a 6.03 ERA through 37.1 innings of work, to go along with a 4.30 xFIP and a strikeout rate of 21.5% through 26 appearances.
Brice will be recalled after being sent down less than two months ago, as he had a 6.94 ERA through 12 appearances before being sent down on the 29th of May. Despite the righty’s struggles through 11.2 innings with the Red Sox, the 29-year-old has since rebounded and has dominated at the Triple-A level.
Through 15 innings with the WooSox, then righty has allowed just two runs to amount to a 1.20 ERA through 12 appearances, striking out 17 batters.
Brice looks to continue his fortunes he’s had with Worcester.
