The Red Sox are calling up Jarren Duran ahead of their four-game series against the Yankees, Joe McDonald of the Worcester Telegram and Gazette reports.

Duran is regarded as a top prospect with the Red Sox, as he ranks second on soxprospects.com’s prospect list, and the top outfield prospect. Him not being on the US Olympic team, as other Red Sox prospects were, hinted at a possible call-up after he was on the team to qualify the United States for the Olympic Games.

The left-handed bat has hit .270/.365/.561 while blasting 15 homers through his 46 games with Triple-A Worcester. He’s had a wRC+ of 143 while recording 35 RBIs, and a .398 wOBA. He had a solid spring training as well, but didn’t make the team.

Somebody moving to the injured list is likely, as someone could be heading to the IL or he might jut be replacing Marwin Gonzalez, who Alex Cora said was heading to the injured list.
