The Red Sox will take on the Yankees in the rubber match of their three-game series, as New York beat Boston 3-1 Saturday night, in a rain-shortened affair.
Christian Arroyo is moving to first base, with Duran pushing centerfielder Kike Hernandez to second base. He said Friday night that Duran “brings a dynamic” to the Red Sox and that he is willing to play at first base in order to help the team win. The infielder has never appeared at first base in his career, but as played at second base, third base, and shortstop in the past.
Xander Bogaerts will return to Boston’s lineup after dealing with some wrist soreness that kept him out of the lineup on Saturday.
Martin Perez will make his 19th start of the season for the Red Sox, in hopes of picking up his eighth win of the season for the club. The left-handed hurler has not allowed a run in his past two starts (9 2/3 innings pitched) against the Yankees, while not allowing a long ball against the past 82 left-handed hitters he’s faced.
