After Tuesday night’s contest was postponed, the Red Sox will take on the Blue Jays Wednesday night.
With left-hander Robbie Ray on the mound for the Jays, Alex Cora opted for a very righty-heavy lineup — which included lefty hitters Jarren Duran and Alex Verdugo to have a day off. J.D. Martinez will remain fifth in the lineup, while Danny Santana will bat at Verdugo/Duran’s usual spot in the lineup. Kike Hernandez will return to the centerfield spot, and Michael Chavis will fill the duties of second base.
Garrett Richards is 3-5 with a 5.26 ERA through 11 outings (nine starts) in his career against the Blue Jays, three of which have came this season where he’s allowed 10 runs through 16 2/3 innings (5.40 ERA).
If the Red Sox win tonight, it will be manager Alex Cora’s 250th win as the manager of the team.
