New England Revolution vs Inter Miami CF Match Preview: The Two Sides Clash for the First Time Ever

The Revs have never played Inter Miami CF, so that will change on Wednesday night. Miami is now dead last in MLS, a common theme of some of the Revs’ opponents. It seems as if they struggle more against the teams they’re supposed to beat. Miami will host the match at DRV PNK Stadium, located in Ft. Lauderdale.

Miami is coming off of a massive losing streak, while New England shut Atlanta down on the weekend. Bruce Arena says he plans for five or six lineup changes, in addition to Kessler leaving the team for USMNT camp.

NE XI:

GK: KNIGHTON

DEF: MAFLA, FARRELL, BELL, DELAGARZA

MID: MCNAMARA, POLSTER, GIL, TRAUSTASON

FWD: BUKSA, BUNBURY

LINEUP NOTES: As mentioned, Arena plans to go with a complete squad rotation in Florida. Delagarza could see his first start, as well as Boateng. It remains a mystery what formation will be played, as well as if Bou gets a break with a one striker formation. Jon Bell likely fills in for Kessler, Caicedo remains out.

MIA XI:

GK: MARSMAN

DEF: MAKOUN, PIREZ, SHAWCROSS, FIGAL

MID: ULLOA, MATUIDI, MORGAN, PIZARRO, ROBINSON

FWD: HIGUAIN

LINEUP NOTES: Inter Miami is without their starting right back in Kelvin Leerdam, he’s with Suriname at the Gold Cup. DP Rodolfo Pizarro’s status is unknown, as he may need to report to Mexico’s camp. Midfielder Gregore is also out due to yellow card accumulation.

The Revs will look to make it two wins in a row on the Southern road trip. They currently hold first place in the East, and with a win, they will jump up to the Supporter’s Shield lead. Miami, New England, in it’s inaugural matchup, will kickoff at 7:30 PM EST (with Messi and Pogba supposedly in the crowd).
