Gustavo Bou Scores Twice as New England Revolution Beat CF Montreal, 2-1

The Revs were shaky in many areas of this match, but all that matters is they come out of it with all three points. New England has gotten the best of Montreal time and time again, so tonight’s result proved to be no different. Gustavo Bou’s screaming finish and hard hit low strike past James Pantemis accounted for both Revolution goals.

‘26 NE CHANCE Carles Gil scores a rebound off Pantemis, but VAR checks it and the goal is called off

‘29 NE GOAL Gustavo Bou steps into the shot and hits an absolute rocket of the crossbar and in to grab the lead NE: 1 CFM: 0

‘41 NE CHANCE Yet again a goal is called off for offside, this time it’s Teal Bunbury that chips Pantemis, the goal won’t count, though Bunbury looked onside

‘74 NE GOAL Bou makes it two as Brandon Bye gets down the right wing and picks out Gustavo, he slams it low and hard through the legs of Pantemis NE: 2 CFM: 0

‘79 CFM GOAL CF Montreal grabs one back, the ball was cut back to the top of the box, where Djordje Mihailovic was waiting to finish it into the bottom right corner. NE: 2 CFM: 1

‘90 NE YELLOW CARD Tommy McNamara

‘94 NE YELLOW CARD Christian Mafla

The Revolution were able to prevail through the injury of their center back, and some rough substitutions. Adam Buksa also left the game with concussion symptoms very early in the first half. With Kessler, Turner, and Buchanan still gone, the Revs may have some depth problems as they continue the season without them. Nevertheless, New England picked up 9 points on 3 wins this week, leaving them all alone in first place atop MLS. They’ll play again in six days when they visit New York Red Bulls next Saturday.
