Boston Red Sox Call Up Connor Wong From Triple-A Worcester to Be 27th Man For Doubleheader Wednesday

The Red Sox have announced the callup of Connor Wong from Triple-A Worcester to be the 27th man in the Red Sox’s doubleheader today, versus the Blue Jays. The 25-year-old will likely be sent back to the WooSox after Thursday.

The doubleheader is in place Wednesday after Tuesday night’s game was rained out, as game 1 (seven innings) starts at 2:10 p.m. EST while game 2 will start approximately 30 minutes to an hour after game 1.

Wong had a brief stint with the Red Sox this season when Kevin Plawecki got sent to the 10-day injured list.

Through four games (three starts), Wong hit .273 (3-for-11) but had an OPS of just .637 to go along with a wRC+ of 68 through his limited time. He notched one double, two runs, no RBIs, and seven strikeouts.

Wong isn’t in the lineup for game 1, but could possibly be put in the lineup for game 2.
