Chavis has hit just .190/.207/.342 this season with one homer, and had a disappointing 2020 after a strong 2019 campaign. The 25-year-old infielder looks to change his fortunes in Pittsburgh.
Davis, 28, has allowed six earned runs through 9.2 innings this season with the Pirates (5.59 ERA), and has a career 5.65 ERA through 71.2 career major-league innings. The lefty spent time with the Phillies before getting dealt to the Pirates in 2020.
