The Red Sox announced another series of roster moves ahead of this evening’s matchup versus Tampa Bay.
Boston added recently acquired Austin Davis and Hansel Robles to the roster, after they were acquired at yesterday’s trade deadline. They optioned catcher Connor Wong to the WooSox, and placed Darwinzon Hernandez on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique injury.
Manager Alex Cora said Hernandez won’t be out too long.
Hernandez heads to the injured list after 41 outings this season, where he’s posted a 3.44 ERA and 4.32 xFIP.
Connor Wong is demoted to Triple-A Worcester, after spending two brief stints with the club as a bench-bat. The 25-year-old catcher acquired in the Mookie Betts deal went 3-for-12 with a double (.250/.308/.333).
Davis was acquired in return for Michael Chavis, as through 10 outings this season with the Pirates, the 28-year-old southpaw has allowed seven runs (5.59 ERA).
Robles was acquired for prospect Aldo Ramirez, as the 30-year-old right-hander holds a 4.91 ERA this season through 45 appearances.
