This match will mark the exact halfway point of the 2021 MLS regular season. This will also be the third and final time the Red Bulls will come up against New England. In the two prior matchups, the Revs have a combined 6-3 scoreline, a 3-2 and 3-1 victory. They will search for a third win against RBNY in order to solidify their spot at the top of the table.

NE XI:

GK: KNIGHTON

DEF: JONES, FARRELL, DELAGARZA, BYE

MID: POLSTER, TRAUSTASON, MCNAMARA, GIL

FWD: BOU, BUKSA

LINEUP NOTES: Buchanan got knocked out of the Gold Cup on Thursday, but he is reportedly out anyway. Orlando’s Tesho Akindele played in their game last night despite starting for Canada the day before, doesn’t seem to be the case for Tajon. Kessler, Turner, and Caicedo are still out of course. DeJuan Jones is cleared to play. Buksa is cleared as well. Jon Bell is out with his upper leg injury.

RBNY XI:

GK: COLONEL

DEF: TOLKIN, TAREK, EDWARDS, DUNCAN

MID: DAVIS, CLARK, CASSERES, CARMONA

FWD: FABIO, KLIMALA

LINEUP NOTES: Center Back Andres Reyes scored in both games against the Revs, but he is inactive with a hamstring injury. Aaron Long is out for the year with his achilles year. Always dangerous Daniel Royer remains out, in addition to new signing Youba Diarra. Defender and midfielder Sean Nealis, who has become a regular starter, will also be listed as questionable.

New England has a five point lead atop the Eastern Conference, but there are three teams with solid cases to overtake them if the Revs were to slip up. Orlando, NYCFC, and Nashville have flip flopped through the 2-4 spots all season long, and are winning games very consistently. The Revolution could use three point in a big way against New York at Red Bull Arena, kickoff is at 6:00 PM EST.
