Gustavo Bou, Carles Gil, Tajon Buchanan, and Matt Turner were selected to the 2021 MLS All-Star Game. The MLS team will face off against the best of Mexico’s Liga MX on August 25th in Los Angeles. LAFC will host at the Banc of California Stadium.
Carles Gil was the only Rev voted in by the fans, but luckily fan vote only accounts for a small percentage of the team. Tajon Buchanan was one of two commissioner’s picks, meaning MLS commissioner Don Garber picked both him and San Jose’s Cade Cowell. Bob Bradley, LAFC’s coach and all-star team manager got to make a bulk of the decisions as well. He picked both goalkeeper Matt Turner, and striker Gustavo Bou for his team.
Bou has scored nine goals in his last ten matches, and sits in second in the Golden Boot race. Matt Turner won goalkeeper of the tournament at the Gold Cup, and will return to the Revs to continue his great season. Only Seattle Sounders had more selections than New England, their defense lead the way to their grand total of six selections.
