The Revs will play their first game without Carles Gil since mid season of last year. Gil returned for the Nashville SC matchup last time, this time it’s the first game he’s missing due to a reported sports hernia. New England is on a roll with four straight wins, but it will be a tough task to keep that pattern.
POTENTIAL NE XI:
GK: TURNER
DEF: JONES, FARRELL, KESSLER, BYE
MID: POLSTER, KAPTOUM, TRAUSTASON, BUCHANAN
FWD: BOU, BUKSA
LINEUP NOTES: The Revs will be without Gil, Bell, and Caicedo. Turner, Buchanan, and Kessler are all back and available, so it really depends on if Bruce Arena wants to slot them all back in. Tajon Buchanan could try to fill in Carles Gil’s attacking midfielder role.
NSH POTENTIAL XI:
GK: WILLIS
DEF: MILLER, CASTELLANOS, ROMNEY
MID: LOVITZ, MCCARTY, GODOY, LEAL, JOHNSON
FWD: SAPONG, MUKHTAR
LINEUP NOTES: The only absence for Nashville will be center back Walker Zimmerman, who got injured in the Gold Cup. Lovitz and Godoy will return. Nashville is missing their top defender, but are at full strength otherwise.
Nashville SC haven’t lost a game since June 18th, and it’s hard to see them letting up now that the Revs’ heart will be missing. But, this will be a good test to see how good this first placed team really is, and to showcase their depth as well. New England will host Nashville on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM EST.
