The Celtics edged out the Hawks in an 85-83 win to kick off the Las Vegas Summer League this afternoon. Fans hope that this game is a preview into how incoming C’s can help Boston overcome Atlanta in the standings after finishing two places behind them last season.
Fan-favorite and player to watch, Yam Madar, proved to Bostonians he was worth the wait in his debut as he led the Celtics offense. Madar — Boston’s 2020 draft pick who chose to play in Israel last season — scored eight, added on a pair of rebounds and assists, while he created a turnover in his 17 minutes on the court.
The Boston rookie’s performance along with his entrance into the NBA as the Israeli Premier League’s Most Improved Player, helps him make his case to play alongside gold medalist Jayson Tatum this upcoming season.
Madar and the Celtic’s Summer League squad are back in action on Tuesday at 7 pm ET against Denver as they look to continue to showcase their young talent and create a winning streak.
