Dennis Schroder announced on Instagram today that he will be joining the Celtics this upcoming season.
The veteran guard shared his excitement to suit up for Boston in an Instagram story that read, “(The Celtics are) one of the best franchises in NBA history, and it will be an honour to put on the green and white and do what I love!” The energy he will bring to the club is undeniable as he continued, “I’m going out there every night and leaving it all on the floor for the city!! Who’s ready?!”
Schroder comes to the Celtics from long-time rival the Lakers. A report from Marc Stein of the New York Times says the guard turned down a contract extension from Los Angeles for around $80 million over four years, walking the path of free agency instead.
Luckily for the C’s, the free agent agreed to a one-year contract with Boston for $5.9 million, per ESPN’S Adrian Wojnarowski.
Schroder brings eight years of experience in the NBA to Boston, with a career 43.6 FG% and an average of 14.3 points per game.
