Celtic’s guard, Payton Pritchard, announced on twitter that he would return to the Celtics for the Summer League championship. He took a brief break for personal reasons, but did get to play in the Portland Pro-Am league where he dominated the competition. Pritchard’s return is pending approval from the coaching staff.

C’s Summer League head coach, Joe Mazzulla, talked about Pritchard’s return earlier today.

“He wasn’t at practice today. I know everyone saw what he tweeted and we’re in discussions about whether it makes sense for him to come back,” Mazzulla said.

If the summer Celtics put a heavy emphasis on winning, the Pritchard return would be a no-brainer. Mazzulla made it clear that it is more important for each player to get better throughout the process. It is possible the C’s feel that they’ve seen enough from Pritchard and want to prioritize his health by keeping him out.

Pritchard has already showed great results this summer so it remains to be seen if he will re-join the team. The Celtics will likely make an official announcement tomorrow morning.
