It wasn’t a great start to the night against DC United, but it was a whole lot more entertaining than the last matchup between the two teams earlier this season. The 3-2 scoreline is the complete opposite of the previous 1-0 score. The night started out shaky, with DCU completely on the front foot. It showed, as they scored the first goal through Paul Arriola back in minute ten. He got injured on the play, and got subbed off for Yordy Reyna. DC would control the play for virtually the entire first half, with the Revs looking far from lively.
The second half substitutes were the game changer, including Buchanan, Buksa, and Boateng. The killer B’s made an immediate impact, with Boateng creating the chance with his pace. McNamara curled his shot top right with a deflection to tie the game, and it took off from there. Ema Boateng’s inch perfect cross to Tajon Buchanan put the Revs in front, but it wouldn’t stop there. To put the icing on the cake, DeJuan Jones guided home a low shot for the third goal. DC United’s Ramon Abila hit an absolute screamer at the death for good measure, leaving the score at a 3-2 final.
The win just continues to boost the comical lead New England has atop the Eastern Conference. Nashville’s draw with Orlando City SC puts them into second place, twelve points behind the Revs. Philadelphia was victorious over NYCFC, slowing down their hot streak. It’ll be just two day rest before the next one for the Revolution, they’ll host FC Cincinnati at 8:00 PM EST on Saturday.
