The New England Revolution have a rough schedule on their hands, as do many other teams in the league. The LA Galaxy have a schedule of matches on Saturday, Tuesday, and Friday of this week, so it could be worse. New England will have two days of rest following the DC United matchup. On Saturday, they’ll be back at Gillette Stadium to host FC Cincinnati.
NE POTENTIAL LINEUP:
GK: TURNER
DEF: JONES, FARRELL, KESSLER, BYE
MID: MACIEL, KAPTOUM, TRAUSTASON, BUCHANAN
FWD: BOU, BUKSA
LINEUP NOTES: Carles Gil remains in rehab back in Spain, expect him to be out much longer than three weeks. Luis Caicedo is also out of course. Matt Polster’s knee bruise last match may hold him out of the lineup, but he may be ready to go.
DCU POTENTIAL LINEUP:
GK: SEITZ
DEF: NAJAR, BRILLANT, BIRNBAUM
MID: REYNA, MORENO, ASAD, GRESSEL
FWD: PAREDES, KAMARA, ARRIOLA
LINEUP NOTES: DCU is without a minimum of six players for this one. Goalkeeper Bill Hamid has been plagued with injuries for years, he’s got a hamstring issue. Russell Canouse and Adrien Perez will be missing from the midfield. The center back duo of Brendan Hines-Ike (whose own goal was the only goal last time these teams played) and Donovan Pines won’t be available. Nigel Robertha is out of the attack, but DP Edinson Flores is questionable.
The Revolution will host DC United at 7:00 PM EST at home, searching for an additional three points to chase the Supporter’s Shield. Fourteen games to go, and winning ten of those would warrant the MLS points record in one season. With Carles Gil out for likely the majority of the remaining season, losing players to the World Cup Qualifiers, and a rough schedule makes it completely unlikely.
