The Red Sox announced four key roster moves ahead of Friday’s matchup against the Baltimore Orioles. Boston has optioned Ryan Brasier to Triple-A Worcester, and has designated Michael Feliz in order to make room for Chris Sale and Matt Barnes who are returning from the COVID-19 related injured list.

Sale will be starting tonight vs. Baltimore.

In four outings (5.1 innings) with Boston, the right-hander Feliz has allowed two runs (3.38 ERA) on four hits, walking one batter and striking out five. The Red Sox have seven days to either trade, release, or waive Feliz. If the 28-year-old is waived, then he’ll either be sent down to the WooSox or join his fourth team this season.

Brasier, in his return from a pair of injuries, has served up five runs (two earned runs) across five outings (4.1 innings), giving him an ERA of 4.15. He gave up a back-breaking, three-run jack to Mariners slugger Mitch Haniger after a costly error from first baseman Kyle Schwarber on Tuesday.

Get ready to see plenty more roster moves come along, as 12 Sox players have recovered or are recovering from COVID-19 in the homestretch of the season.
