The Boston Celtics announced on Friday that Jaylen Brown has tested positive for COVID-19. Brown is reportedly asymptomatic and his vaccination status remains unknown.

Brown will miss the remainder of the preseason and will need to quarantine for at least 10 days. The Celtics play their season opener on October 20th against the Knicks so he will likely just make it back in time.

This comes at a poor time for both the team and Brown. The C’s guard is trying to work his way back from wrist surgery that sidelined him for the end of last season. He will also miss a good opportunity to work on his chemistry with his new teammates and coaching staff during the preseason.

Luckily for Boston, Brown showed no signs of rust in his game in their preseason opener. The all-star finished with a game-high 25 points in just 26 minutes.

Celtics fans are hoping Brown comes back and continues to play well and that the C’s don’t have another COVID-19 riddled season.
