The New England Patriots will have their offensive line depth tested on Sunday, as Trent Brown, Shaq Mason, Isaiah Wynn, and Mike Onwenu will all not be playing vs. the Texans. David Andrews (center) will be the only starter on the o-line playing.
Mason (ab) and Brown (calf) were ruled out with injuries, while Onwenu and Wynn were placed on the COVID/reserve. Brown will miss his fourth consecutive game with his calf injury after being taken out of Week 1 vs. the Dolphins.
In addition, Jalen Mills (hamstring) and Ronnie Perkins (ankle) are ruled out, while Justin Bethel (hamstring) was made questionable — along with Ja’Whuan Bentley (shoulder), Cody Davis (knee), Kyle Dugger (hamstring), Nick Folk (left knee), Jonathan Jones (ankle), and Kyle Van Noy (groin), who were all limited in practice Friday and were on the injury report earlier in the week.
Mason, Brown, Mills, and Perkins — who were on the injury report earlier in the week with the others mentioned — are the only ones who have been ruled out so far.
New England made some elevations from the practice squad. O-lineman James Ferentz, Alex Redmond, and Will Sherman will be suiting up along with defensive back Myles Bryant — who made several big plays in the preseason.
Sherman was a sixth-round pick by the Pats this year out of Colorado, while the other three were signed as free agents this offseason.
As for the Texans, ex-Patriot Rex Burkhead (hip) was ruled out, while Marcus Cannon (back) and Danny Amendola (hamstring) are questionable.
