The Boston Celtics fell to 2-1 in the preseason after a tightly contested 103-102 loss to the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night.
Celtics forward Aaron Nesmith was strong for the Celtics, leading all scorers by salvaging 23 points on 8-for-16 shooting while going 4-for-8 from behind the arch. Another catalyst in the Celtics’ strong effort against the Magic was Romeo Langford, as Langford finished with 12 points, shooting 5-for-13 from the field, but went 0-for-3 from behind the arch.
The C’s played with great effort and energy on the floor, displaying great ball movement, as they notched 23 assists as a team. The Celtics were up as many as five points in the fourth quarter, with four minutes to play in the fourth quarter.
Theo Pinson would hit a pair of free throws to stop Magic’s 5-0 run, which put Boston up 102-101 with 42 seconds remaining. Jeff Dowtin, however, would hit the game-winning shot to put the Magic in the lead with 0.2 seconds left — the Celtics could not get a final shot off as the Magic were able to hang on for the win.
The Celtics look to improve to 3-1 to finish the preseason on Friday night against the Miami Heat at 6:30 p.m. EST.
