The Red Sox have extended their $18.4M qualifying offer to southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez. Jon Heyman, Alex Speier, and Jeff Passan were the first to report the news.
Rodriguez was on the unluckier side of things in 2021, posting a 4.74 ERA through 32 outings (31 starts) but also slating a 3.43 xFIP and a 3.64 SIERA.
If the six-year starter for some reason decides not to accept, Boston would receive compensation when he signs with someone else. It’s most likely that the Venezuelan will sign, however.
