Rafael Devers at third base and Xander Bogaerts at shortstop were able to add to their hardware collection Thursday, as the MLB announced their Silver Slugger awards to each position.
Bogaerts won after posting a slash line of .295/.370/.493, hitting 23 homers and slating a 130 wRC+. Bogaerts’ numbers dipped after the All-Star break massively but started to regain his stride towards the end of the season.
Devers had a similar statline, although much less streaky than Bogaerts was. He hit .279/.352/.538, clubbing two homers shy of 40 and salvaging a 134 wRC+. While defense was an issue, an offensive award best suits Devers.
Shohei Ohtani beat out J.D. Martinez and others for the designated hitter silver slugger after his historic season.
