Boston Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy has been placed in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol, the Bruins announced on Tuesday.

Cassidy will not be coaching the team on Tuesday night when they play the Detroit Red Wings. It’s yet to be seen whether or not he’ll coach the club on the upcoming games at the Nashville Predators (Dec. 2), versus the Tampa Bay Lightning (Dec. 4) and at the Vancouver Canucks (Dec. 8).

Don Sweeney said Joe Sacco will take over as interim coach. Sacco, the only one with NHL head coaching experience, coached the Colorado Avalanche from 2010-13 and compiled a 130-134-30 record.

Sweeney also said Cassidy has “mild symptoms.”
