While it didn’t end the way he wanted, Carles Gil had an extraordinary year for the New England Revolution, taking them to record heights. Gil posted four goals and 18 assists, which may not come off as extremely impressive to the casual fan.
When watching Carles on the pitch, you can tell he’s something special. On and off the field, he is an amazing leader and person, which is proven by the love his teammates show him.
Gil was presented the MVP award at Gillette Stadium by Bruce Arena, and held a press conference. Taylor Twellman, the 2005 MLS MVP for the Revs, was also in attendance. His incredible season was cut short by NYCFC in the playoffs, the only thing left was to win the first MLS Cup for New England.
The Supporter’s Shield is an incredible achievement, but the Revs have a bitter taste in their mouth. Gil made it clear in his press conference that he feels he has let the fans down, and is ready to make another run for it in 2022.
The 2022 MLS season is fast approaching, the Revolution will visit Portland, potentially MLS Cup champions, on February 26th.
