The Boston Celtics announced on Monday that Jayson Tatum is entering NBA’s health and safety protocols. He showed up in the team’s official injury report ahead of tonight’s matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Tatum is on a long list of players in health and safety protocols but this one will have the biggest impact on the team.

The two-time all-star is averaging 25.6 points per game this season and a very solid 8.6 rebounds per game as well. His absence will be noticeable on both ends of the floor but there is a silver lining to it as well.

This opens up the door for Jaylen Brown to take an even bigger leap. He will be in a position to lead the team and try to fill the void left by Tatum. Brown has battled his fair share of injuries already this season so this could be a great opportunity for him to build a consistent rhythm moving forward.

The Celtics will certainly have their work cut out for them until Tatum returns.
