Only eight players for the Celtics saw the floor Friday vs. the league-best Suns, but Boston pulled off a well-balanced victory over Pheonix, where the three bench players, Romeo Langford, Payton Pritchard, and Josh Richardson, equated for 46 points.
Boston took a lead late in the first and began their run early in the second, never looking back. The C’s were up by 30 at halftime and took a 100-77 lead into halftime. Pheonix would get within 15 points midway through the fourth but hung on to secure the 123-108 victory.
The Jayson Tatum-less Celtics were led in scoring by Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown, each notching 24 points. Grant Williams contributed 15 points while Rob Williams also added 10.
Boston gets back in the win column with a shorthanded victory over the Suns, snapping the three-game losing streak. The Celtics will take on the Magic Sunday night at 6:00 p.m. EST.
