The Patriots began their 2022 with the clinching of a playoff spot, as they did it in style — blowing out the Jaguars, 50-10. The Dolphins took a loss to the Titans, which clinches a playoff spot.
In the four drives New England had in the first half, they scored on each of them — with a pair of touchdowns from Damien Harris, and scores from Jakobi Meyers and Kristian Wilkerson, who was recently elevated from the practice squad.
Both J.C. Jackson and Myles Bryant would pick off Trevor Lawrence in the first half as well, as New England went into the half with a 28-3 lead.
Wilkerson began the second half with a 20-yard touchdown, his second of the day before the Patriots would finally punt for the first time of the day on their following drive. Kyle Dugger would pick off Lawrence, and it took just one play after he ran it back, a 1-yard run for Rhamondre Stevenson to make it 41-3.
On Mac Jones’ final drive of the day, Nick Folk booted his first field goal of the day to make it 44-3, and Brian Hoyer led the team downfield before Stevenson tallied his second score of the day.
Jacksonville would find their way into the end zone for the first time and final time of the day via the dump-off pass to Dare Ogunbowale.
Jones threw for 227 yards, a trio of touchdowns, and went 22-of-30 through the air, while Stevenson had another impressive day tallying 107 yards on 19 carries.
Kendrick Bourne led the team in receiving, with 76 yards on five catches, while Wilkerson shined with four catches for 42 yards, two of those being touchdowns in N’Keal Harry and Nelson Agholor’s absence. Jakobi Meyers also posted a strong outing, catching eight passes for 73 yards.
