About a week ago, New England Revolution goalie Matt Turner was first linked to Arsenal, one of the more popular English football clubs. According to several reports, Matt Turner will indeed join them, come Summer. The transfer fee will be €7M, with an addition €3m in add-ons.
This is equivalent to close to $8M, with just over $3M in add-ons. Turner will play about the first half of the season with the Revs before they need to find their new starting goalkeeper. The Revs have now sold Buchanan and Turner off for more than $7M each, and Adam Buksa is likely to leave for a higher price tag in the next year.

This leaves Bruce Arena with plenty of money to work with, though it doesn’t seem they are going to be splashing much cash in this window. Arena said that 1-2 signings may come in from now to the end of the preseason, but that first match is looming very near. CONCACAF Champions League play begins in less than three weeks, so Arena will want to have his squad ready to go prior.
As far as Turner goes, he will likely start in tonight’s World Cup Qualifying fixture against El Salvador as the United States look to inch closer to this year’s World Cup in Qatar. This match will be a showcase to show fans of Arsenal and teams around the world what he is capable of.
