New England Revolution Adding Striker Jozy Altidore (Report)

Jozy Altidore

Jozy Altidore has been a household name in the MLS and USMNT soccer for many years, scoring tons of goals over the course of his career. While he may not be that same force he once was, Altidore is headed to the New England Revolution ahead of the 2022 season, likely on a three-year deal, according to The Athletic.

Altidore, 32, has been with Toronto FC for the past seven years, amassing over 60 goals for the club. This includes seasons of 17 and 15 goals apiece. That being said, injuries have plagued Altidore, the main source of concern for Revs fans.

Bruce Arena has gone with a veteran approach this off-season, acquiring Omar Gonzalez, Jozy Altidore, and Sebastian Lletget. It gives the Revolution some solid depth, especially with the extra matches in the US Open Cup and the CONCACAF Champions League, both of which are coming up soon.

The Revs are still working on making some other signings before the beginning of the MLS regular season at the end of February. It will be important to monitor those potential moves in the coming weeks.

New England finishes their preseason slate against LA Galaxy on Saturday night, prior to returning back home ahead of February 15th’s matchup with Cavaly AS of Haiti. It is unclear how soon Jozy will join the team, but he has a chance to produce in a big way when he does.
