The Boston Celtics are sending Bol Bol, P.J. Dozier, a second-round pick, and cash considerations for a second-round pick in return from the Orlando Magic, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Bol and Dozier were acquired by Boston in a three-way deal completed mid-January. Both are injured and did not suit up for a single game for Boston. The Celtics are officially under the luxury tax bill which they have been slowly trying to dodge with moves all season. They also have three free open roster spots available.
What makes this deal very interesting is that Boston didn’t need to give up both Bol and Dozier to fall under the tax so it seems like there might be more moves to come.
Brian Robb of MassLive reports that the deal is heavily protected — making it even more likely that it was a trade leading up to a trade.
The future second-round pick the Celtics are receiving from the Magic in Bol Bol, PJ Dozier trade is heavily protected and likely won't convey, league sources tell MassLive.
