It’s safe to say Derrick White is fitting in with the Boston Celtics. The new acquisition, acquired just yesterday at the trade deadline, played a major role in Boston’s 108-102 win over the Denver Nuggets Friday night.
Boston started out with a deficit for the entirety of the first, but when White checked in late in the first, he was a major part of a 12-0 run that the Celtics took into the second quarter and gave them the lead. The Nuggets would go into the half though with a nine-point lead.
The Celtics responded with another run to take the lead halfway through the third quarter, and it was a back-and-forth game from there. Both sides traded basket after basket until Boston pulled ahead in the final two minutes — earning their seventh straight win.
Jayson Tatum led the team in scoring with 24 points, with Marcus Smart adding 15. Rob Williams had a very sturdy night, putting up 15 while grabbing a beefy 16 boards. White had 15 points with two assists and six boards in his Celtics debut.
Boston will take on the Hawks Sunday at 2:00 p.m. EST to close out their homestand.
