Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins picked up a 2-0 win over the Senators Saturday afternoon. The Bruins were without Patrice Bergeron, Matt Grzelcyk and Urho Vaakanainen.
Trent Frederic picked collected a rebound early in the first to put Boston on the board before Curtis Lazar crashed the net later in the first period and pounced on a loose puck to make it 2-0. Anton Blidh potted a loose rebound in the third, but Lazar was called for goalie interference –forcing the goal to be called off.
Swayman stopped 30 shots, his second start since Tuukka Rask retired. He was promoted to the team following Rask’s retirement after the team assigned him to Providence when Rask made his comeback.
Boston will not play until Thursday as they receive quite a bit of a break — they’ll take on the Rangers, at the Madison Square Garden.
